Two arrested with sacks of wee at Ghana-Togo border

Two persons have been arrested in the Northern Region with 15 bags and 24 wrappers of substances suspected to be Indian hemp popularly known as wee. They were arrested last Friday by a joint security taskforce during a border operation along the Ghana-Togo border in the region. 29-year-old Majeed Maamin was arrested Nalerigu for allegedly possessing and pedling 24 wrapped substances believed to be wee. Mariam Dahamani, a 39-year old woman, was also arrested from Sakogu and a search of her house revealed 8 full sacks of the dried substances as well as seven mini sacks containing suspected wee. Samples of the substances have since been taken and sent to Accra for laboratory examination, the Northern Regional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Kusi Appiah told editors.3news.com Monday.
