Tema West MP Carlos Ahenkorah has been barred from TMA activities
Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has been slapped with a six-month suspension by the General Assembly of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA). The decision to suspend the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP was taken on Wednesday, www.editors.3news.com gathers. Mr Ahenkorah is said to have acted against the Assembly. The MP last week attacked the works engineer of the Assembly during a demolition exercise. He is said to have stopped the exercise at the Cocoa Village. At a meeting of the highest decision-making body of the Assembly, 25 members voted in support of the motion for Mr Ahenkorah’s suspension while nine voted against the motion. Speaking on 3FM’s News Hour on Wednesday, Presiding Member Richard Fiadomor said the MP will lose some privileges in the six-month period of suspension. Mr Fiadomor defended the decision of the Assembly – taken in the absence of the MP – saying whether he is present or not, he is bound by decisions taken at that level.
