Though the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to make an official declaration of results, provisional ones suggest Benson Tongo Baba has reclaimed the seat for the ruling party. Provisional results have him polling 9,716 votes against NPP’s 9,578.
Notable among NPP members who took to social media to congratulate the former Chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) is Gabby Otchere-Darko, who came under attack while at the party’s constituency office during voting in Talensi.
“Congrats BT Baba of NDC for winning the Talensi by-election,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
“NDC takes back its traditional stronghold.”
‘Full of joy’
Meanwhile, it is joy in the camp of the NDC, according to the party’s National Organiser Kofi Adams.
Speaking on TV3’s [email protected] on Tuesday evening, Mr Adams said they are only waiting for the official declaration by the EC.
He said the victory is evidence of the good works of the John Mahama-led administration.
“Anytime we say it, people say it is not the case.”
