Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has admitted his defence struggled in the 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.

An error by central defender Joseph Aidoo led to Ethiopia’s equaliser after Andre Ayew had given Ghana the lead with a fantastic free-kick at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

“First, I want to congratulate my bots for fighting very hard. We were expecting a very tough match today and I want to congratulate the Ethiopian team for a very good performance today, they deserve this result,” Rajevac told reporters after the game.

He added, “We had some problems in defence especially today. We made some mistakes so after all, everything will be decided on Sunday so for us it’s important to win our next match on Sunday with a two-goal difference if we want to qualify for the final round of the qualification for the World Cup.”

The draw means Ghana need a win in their last game against South Africa to advance to the next stage of the qualifiers.

The match will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday evening.
