Manchester  United defender Harry Maguire has responded to remarks made by Ghanaian Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Isaac Adongo following the latter’s apology on the floor of Parliament.

Hon. Adongo who had initially compared the ‘competence’ of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the England international described him as a liability to Manchester United just as Dr Bawumia was to the Ghanaian economy.

His comments were related to Maguire’s dip in form compared to his performance at the 2018 World Cup which prompted the Red Devils to secure his signing.

However, Hon Adongo, who has continuously criticised the ruling government and the management of the economy was quick to retract his comments on Maguire acknowledging that the centre-back had “turned the corner” and bounced back to top form unlike the Vice President who is now the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 elections in Ghana.

Maguire, expressing his pleasure with the apology of Mr Adongo wrote on X (Formerly Twitter), “MP Issac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon.”

Maguire who was almost an outcast for Manchester United at the beginning of the season seem to have won the heart of manager Erik ten Hag after a few brilliant performances recently including a winning goal scored in the UEFA Champions League a few weeks ago to win a crucial match against FC Copenhagen.
