Real Madrid and Eden Hazard have reached a mutual agreement to part ways, with the player’s departure scheduled for June 30, 2023.

After a four-season spell marked by underwhelming performances, Hazard’s time at the Spanish club is coming to an end.

Although the Belgian international had a contract until 2024 and expressed his desire to stay, Real Madrid made the decision for him to leave, resulting in the agreement.

While retirement is reportedly an option for the former Chelsea player, no final decision has been made regarding his future plans.

Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, becoming the club’s most expensive signing at that time. However, his stint at the Santiago Bernabeu has been marred by a series of injury setbacks, limiting his impact on the field and preventing him from fully settling into the team.

This season, Hazard’s playing time has been heavily curtailed due to ongoing injury problems. He has made just six appearances in La Liga and ten across all competitions.

In total, since his arrival in 2019, Hazard has featured in 76 matches for Real Madrid, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists.

The forward’s international retirement came in December of last year, following Belgium’s early exit from the 2022 World Cup during the group stage.
