On Monday evening, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced it had parted ways with Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor and his two assistants David Duncan and Dutchman Patrick Greveraars who was added to the technical team in late May.

Akonnor and his assistants were sacked exactly a week after Black Stars were beaten for the first time in 21 years by South Africa in a competitive match. The Black Stars were poor in Johannesburg and that led to calls for Akonnor to be axed.

GFA has began their search for a new coach for the senior national team, with a three-member committee led by GFA Vice President Mark Addo tasked to find a new coach before Friday.
