Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC are set to hire a new coach as Evans Adotey prepares to assume the full role as Technical Director ahead of the new season in which they will be competing in the CAF Champions League.

The veteran coach took over from Umar Rabi in March and led the team to their first Ghana Premier League triumph beating Bechem United and Aduana Stars, the initial favourites of the tournament.

In just a few days after the victory, the president of the club Moses Armah ‘Parker’ has hinted about the necessary arrangements which they believe will go a long way to increase the team’s chances of changing the poor history of Ghanaian clubs in the CAF interclub competitions.

He indicates that there are plans to replace Adotey, who will eventually take over as technical director due to his depth of knowledge.

He also stated that the next head coach will be chosen based on Adotey’s proposal, assuring a smooth transition and continuity among the club’s technical staff.

“Evans Adotey is the club’s Technical Director and will be retained, but we will make any decisions based on his recommendations because CAF requires that we appoint a Licensed A coach, so if he recommends that we appoint an expatriate coach, we will do so because we need quality to help us achieve our goal in Africa,” Moses Armah ‘Parker’ told Asempa FM.

Medeama last played in CAF interclub competitions in 2016 where they exited the group stage after finishing third.
