Medeama SC President, Moses Armah, has revealed that the club incurred expenses totalling $300,000 during the qualifying rounds of the CAF Champions League.

He made this disclosure while appealing for financial support following the team’s historic qualification for the group stage of the competition.

Medeama secured their spot in the group stage by defeating Nigeria’s Remo Stars on penalties in the first round and later overcoming Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second round.

Armah highlighted the financial investment required for their successful journey, stating, “We spent USD300,000 in our two games against Remo Stars and Horaya AC to qualify for the group stage of this year’s CAF Champions League.”

While the club are set to receive $700,000 from CAF for reaching the group stage, additional financial backing is needed to ensure a successful campaign.

Medeama’s group stage opponents will be determined through a draw scheduled for Friday. Possible adversaries include reigning champions Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Esperance de Tunis. TP Mazembe, Asec Mimosas, and Petro Atletico are also among the teams in contention.

Medeama, eager to make an impact in their first appearance in this stage of the competition, hope to host their group stage matches at the TNA stadium. According to Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP Hon. George Mireku Duker, the stadium is set to be commissioned in November, with the group stage matches commencing later in the same month.
