Despite amassing 97 points, Liverpool FC missed the 2018/2019 English Premier League title. The title was won on the final day on Sunday, May 12 by Manchester City, who shrugged off an earlier scare from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Citizens beat the Seagulls 4-1 at their home to win the title. It is their second in two years as they successfully defend the trophy. Liverpool gave them a run for their money until the final day as they trailed by only one point. The Reds beat Wolves by two Sadio Mane goals to finish the campaign with 97 points. They prepare to play in the final of the UEFA Champions League for the second successive time, on June 1 in Madrid, Spain. The top four finishers this year are Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. They will automatically qualify for 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League. The relegated sides are Cardiff City, Fulham FC and Huddersfield. Source:
