Legon Cities confirmed that their team bus, carrying players and officials, was attacked by armed robbers while they were returning to Accra after a Ghana Premier League match on Wednesday.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat to Samartex at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi, the team was en route to the capital Accra when they encountered armed robbers who proceeded to rob the players and officials of their phones, laptops, and money.

Although the incident occurred in Toase, the club assured that no one was harmed. They also mentioned, “The entire team is safely back in Accra. The club will make a representation to the police this morning to address the issue.”

Given the potentially traumatic nature of the incident, the club’s upcoming game against champions Medeama this weekend could be at risk of being postponed.
