Asante Kotoko appealed to the Normalisation Committee to be allowed to play the 2018/19 Confed Cup[/caption] Asante Kotoko are scheduled to host a Cameroonian side in the first leg of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup. The draw of the preliminary round was held on Saturday, November 3 in Rabat, Morocco but released on Friday. The opponents of the Porcupine Warriors are, however, yet to be known as a result a legal tussle as to who joins New Star FC as the representatives from Cameroon for the continental club competition. New Star FC had to replace Bamboutos FC though the latter have appealed a ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). The second side from Cameroon is likely to be the winner of the 2018 Cup of Cameroon. Therefore, Asante Kotoko are likely to face Lion Blesse FC or Eding Sport as they are into the final of that competition. The Ghanaians will host the first leg on November 27/28 while the Cameroonians host the second leg on December 4/5. The winner will play either Kenya’s Kariobangi Sharks or Djibouti’s Solar7 in the first round of qualifiers. Ghana had – through the Normalisation Committee – withdrawn from participating in any continental club competition but Asante Kotoko had written to be given the opportunity to play despite the lack of football action on the domestic front due to the issues from the Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposé.
