Ghana forward Jordan Ayew achieved another career milestone on Tuesday when Ghana beat Liberia in an international friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Crystal forward climbed from the bench to score Ghana’s third goal to cement a convincing 3-1 victory over the Lone Stars marking his 92nd appearance for the Black Stars.

Ernest Nuamah and Mohammed Kudus had initially put Ghana in front with goals in the 552nd and 59th minutes recording finding the net on consecutive occasions before the introduction of Ayew who scored with eight minutes to end the game.

Ayew has now surpassed John Paintsil’s 91 appearances which makes him the fourth player with the most appearances for the senior national team only behind captain Andre Ayew, former captain Asamoah Gyan and Richard Kingson who won 109 and 93 caps respectively for the team.

The former Olympique Marseille striker who turned 32 a few days ago has also scored 20 goals in for the national team making him Ghana’s seventh all-time highest scorer.

Ayew is hoping to make more appearances for the Black Stars in the forthcoming fixtures including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which begins in November and the 2023 AFCON which comes off in Ivory Coast next year.
