Hearts of Oak will host their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the first Super Clash of the season, but the match will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi instead of the Accra Sports Stadium.

This change of venue is due to the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium, which has been booked for festive activities throughout December.

Instead of choosing their alternate venue, the Cape Coast Stadium, Hearts of Oak have opted to play the match in Kumasi, a decision that Elvis Herman Hesse, the club’s supporters’ chief, believes will be beneficial for the team.

According to Hesse, playing in Kumasi will provide the club with a financial advantage since many of the teams they have yet to face in the league are located in the northern sector, which is closer to Kumasi. Additionally, Hearts of Oak have a large following in Kumasi, making it a favourable location for the match.

Despite their recent struggles, which include being eliminated from the MTN FA Cup by Division One League club Nania FC and falling eight points behind the leaders in the Ghana Premier League, Hearts of Oak will look to secure a positive result against their rivals.

They have had success in Kumasi in the past, including winning the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005, and will aim to replicate that performance this weekend.
