Hearts of Oak coach David Ocloo has conceded defeat in their battle to win this season’s Ghana Premier League following their 5-1 defeat to Medeama SC on Sunday.
After the FA Cup break, the two teams returned to action in an intense clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Medeama SC who were eying the top spot after Aduana Stars had slipped the previous day with a defeat to Accra Lions achieved their aim by thumping the Phobians 5-1 with a brace from Jonathan Sowah and a goal each by Derrick Fordjour, Vincent Atingah and Kwasi Donsu.
Hearts of Oak got their consolation through a penalty goal from Ibrahim Salifu.
The defeat leaves the Phobians eight points away from the top with three games to end the season.

While Medeama climbed to the top of the table, Hearts of Oak remained in the sixth position compelling coach Isaac Odoom to admit the title race as a lost battle.
“We gave them too much time and space on the ball and in football if you give your opponent time and space they will punish you,” he told StarTimes Ghana after the defeat.
“Yeah [the title race is over]. We will now play to achieve a respectable position,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will likely shift their attention to achieve a top-four spot in order to participate in the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) top-four tournament.
