After seven months of waiting, the Ghana Premier League is back!

Champions Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak would have been the first game of the weekend but that match has been called off.

This decision was taken after the GFA was informed that Players and Officials of Hearts of Oak will need further tests before playing a match.

This means Legon Cities FC and Berekum Chelsea’s game will be the stand out opening weekend game of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

The Accra based club were dominant in the transfer market and that means expectations will be high as the fans will want the club to take all three points against Berekum Chelsea.

On transfer deadline day, the announced the signing of former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan.

Although he might not play because of fitness issues, his presence will be a morale booster for the boys.

New boy, Matthew Anim Cudjoe, may make his debut tomorrow and he could dazzle the supporters with his quick fit and incredible skills.

Berekum Chelsea on the other hand, are no push overs. In their opening fixture of the truncated 2019/20 season, the beat Hearts of Oak and claiming victory on the first day will be their target.

Their new coach, Hesse Odamtten, is poised for the season ahead as he wants to lead the Bibires to their second GPL trophy.

Legon Cities coach, Goran Barjaktarevic says he is ready for the Blues.

“Mentally it’s important to prepare for a game, but I always say defeat belongs to the professional sports, but we will not give up, we will fight till the end of the season”. He told Legon Cities TV.

Before the league was cancelled, the Royals had won 3 out of 15 games played. In one of those matches, they played Berekum Chelsea and lost 2-0 .

The Bibires however, occupied the first position having lost just 4 of the 15 games played.

Saturday’s encounter, will be an interesting one between the two as they will look to take all 3 points in the opening week.

The other games are Medeama vs Great Olympics, Ebusua Dwarfs vs Elmina Sharks, Liberty Professionals vs Bechem United.

Inter Allies and Dreams FC will play on Monday.

All games will be played behind closed doors as ordered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports due to the spike in COVID-19 cases.
