Bright Adjei scored an early goal as Aduana Stars earned a 1-0 victory against King Faisal to move up to second place in the Ghana Premier League.

The forward scored in the 5th minute with Aduana holding on for a third straight win to remain in contention for the title.

King Faisal came into Sunday’s encounter confident of another win, having beaten Aduana 3-1 in Dormaa in the first round, but fell behind when Adjei raced clear and superbly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.

The goal was Adjei’s 12th of the season as he closes in on top scorer Franck Mbella Etouga who has 13 goals.

Great Olympics dropped to third after a goalless draw with Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Medeama’s poor form on the road continued as they lost to 1-0 Bibiani Gold Stars. Stephen Owusu Kaakyire was the hero, scoring four minutes after halftime.

Former Medeama forward Prince Opoku Agyemang had earlier missed a glorious opportunity to give Gold Stars the lead as he blasted a penalty over the bar.

After losing to Kotoko last weekend, Dreams FC bounced back with a 2-0 win against bottom side Elmina Sharks in Dawu.

Kelvin Andoh scored a brace to inspire Karela United to a comeback win against AshantiGold in Ayinase. The striker equalised after Eric Esso’s opener for the Obuasi club before scoring the winner on the hour mark.

On Saturday, Legon Cities extended their unbeaten run to five games as they played out a 1-1 draw with Real Tamale United in Accra.
