Ghana coach Chris Hughton, acknowledges the need for improvement in various aspects of their game as they gear up for friendly matches against Mexico and the United States.

Hughton emphasises the importance of these games in the context of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year.

Black Stars are set to face Mexico with a scheduled 9 pm kick-off (1 am Ghana Time) at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Following this, they will take on the United States of America on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hughton expressed his perspective, saying to ghanafa.org, “You plan and hope to build something. We have two games here in the USA, which I think will be advantageous for us as regards to our preparations going into the two (2026 FIFA) World Cup games and of course into AFCON.”

He added, “There are areas of our game that we can improve; there is no doubt about that. Perhaps scoring goals early enough in games to take pressure off ourselves is one area we are seriously working on.”

The 2026 World Cup qualifiers will start in November with the Black Stars playing Madagascar and Comoros before the AFCON in January. Ghana will play Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
