Hearts of Oak have announced the appointment of Togbe Afede XIV and Delali Anku-Adiamah as new directors of the club following the dissolution of the board on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the club, these appointments are in compliance with the requirements of Section 171 (1) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), which mandates a company like Hearts of Oak to have at least two directors.

The statement reads, “Following the dissolution of the Board of Accra Hearts of Oak SC Plc on February 27, 2024, and in compliance with the requirement of Section 171 (1) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) that, ‘A company incorporated after the commencement of this Act shall have at least two directors, one of these directors being ordinarily resident in Ghana.”

“Strategic Initiatives Ltd and Strategic African Securities Ltd, majority owners of Accra Hearts of Oak SC Plc, hereby appoint the following as directors effective February 28, 2024, Togbe Afede XIV, Chairman of Strategic Initiatives Ltd, “who will resume his role as Executive Chairman, and Delali Anku-Adiamah, Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak SC Plc,” the statement added

This move comes after the dissolution of the Board of Directors ahead of the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), leading to the departure of prominent figures such as Frank Nelson, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, Alhaji Akanbi Brimah, and Vincent Odotei Sowah.

Hearts of Oak have faced domestic challenges since their successful 2021 season when they clinched both the league and FA Cup. Togbe Afede XIV, who became the majority shareholder in 2011, has invested significantly in improving the club’s infrastructure, including the final stages of the Pobiman Sports Complex and the new head office in Adabraka.

Earlier this month, the club appointed Aboubakar Ouattara as the new coach, and under his leadership, Hearts of Oak secured a victory in their first match of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
