Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has described Thomas Partey as a generational talent whom Ghana misses.

The Arsenal midfielder has struggled with injuries this season and missed four months of action after picking up a muscle injury last October.

As a result, the 30-year-old missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and hasn’t been featured for the Black Stars since October last year.

Gyan speaking on Asempa FM believes Partey has been a big miss for the national team.

“It’s unfortunate that we miss a player like Thomas Partey. He is a generational talent. This year the injuries have slowed him down a little. You can’t blame him for that.”

Gyan also added that the criticism for the midfielder has been a bit unwarranted considering he’s just back from injury.

“Even when he comes back it’ll take time for him to get back to his normal level. Sometimes when people criticize a player coming back from injury it’s unfair.”

Partey only returned from his long injury lay-off last month and has made three substitute appearances so far.

The former Atletico Madrid star made his Black Stars debut in 2016 and has made 47 appearances, scoring 13 goals.
