Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has dispelled any injury concerns surrounding Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo, stating that his substitution during Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League was purely a technical decision.

Semenyo, who featured for 45 minutes, was replaced by Marcus Tavernier, sparking speculation about his fitness.

However, Iraola addressed the issue in a post-game press conference, asserting, “No injury. It was a technical decision. He could have continued.” The manager emphasized that Semenyo is fully fit.

The Black Stars forward, who recently returned to action after representing Ghana in the 2023 AFCON campaign, has been in good form for Bournemouth. With three goals and two assists in 18 league appearances in the 2023-2024 season, Semenyo continues to make a notable impact for The Cherries.

The encounter which unfolded at the Vitality Stadium saw Justin Kluivert take the lead for the host at the fifth-minute mark. However, the English-born Ghanaian winger restored parity for Nottingham Forest before half-time.

The game recorded extra drama as Philip Billing got sent off in the 84th minute. However, all of these didn’t affect the scoreline as both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

Despite Ghana’s disappointing performance in the 2023 AFCON, where they failed to secure a win, Semenyo is back on the pitch and contributing effectively to his club’s campaign in the English Premier League.
