Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has justified the decision to reappoint Otto Addo as the next coach of the Black Stars indicating his outstanding performance during the job interview.
The Borussia Dortmund talent coach was confirmed on Friday as Chris Hughton’s replacement.
According to the GFA boss, the Black Stars coach search committee was impressed with the vision of the former Ghana international compelling them to settle on him as the right man for the job.
“Otto was exceptional in the interview process and was rated highly by the search committee, hence the decision,” President Simeon-Okraku told ghanafa.org
“There were some brilliant individuals among the coaches who applied for the job, so the committee took the pain to interview a chunk of them to pick their thoughts on their intentions to transform the team within a short period of time due to our peculiar situation”
“The Committee was overly satisfied with Otto’s performance for which reason he was recommended to the Executive Council for approval,” President Simeon-Okraku added.
The committee’s chairman, Mark Addo, had earlier claimed there were over 500 applicants who were supposed to meet a criteria including a 15-year coaching experience as well as a proven track record of winning.

While Addo seems to fall short of those, the GFA is convinced of his potential to surge Ghana’s Black Stars forward.
Otto Addo’s first competitive assignment will be against Mali on June 3, 2024, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and against the Central African Republic seven days later in Ghana.
Before that, Ghana will square off with archrivals Nigeria and Uganda later this month in friendly games.
