Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus to improve his decision-making in the final third of the pitch.

The 23-year-old grabbed an assist during Monday night’s 4-2 victory for West Ham in their win over Brentford at the London Stadium. The talented midfielder looks set to hit double figures in the English Premier League in his debut season with six goals and two assists so far.

The former Manchester United captain gave Kudus credit for his assist and performance in the second half of the contest but added that he can choose better options instead of opting for shots at certain moments.

“Kudus has got something, but he just needs to be a bit more mature in his final choices. Sometimes wingers can be unpredictable, but they need to be unpredictable not just to the opposition but also to their own teammates. In the first half, he took one or two wild shots instead of making a final pass,” Neville said on his podcast.

“And I did say in that first half that the one thing David Moyes could say at halftime was for him to be a little bit more precise in what he was doing and that third goal came from him being more direct and putting in that lovely cross for Jarrod Bowen which was a big moment in the game…”

Kudus, who played 89 minutes for West Ham against Brentford, saw five shots go off-target and recorded one assist. He joined the Hammers in the 2023 summer transfer window.
