Mohamed Diomande will not feature in Ghana’s friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda after asking for more time to decide his international future.
Diomande, born in Ivory Coast, played for Right to Dream academy in Ghana before flying to Europe to join FC Nordsjaelland.
The midfielder was included in Otto Addo’s squad for the March international window and also included in Ivory Coast’s U23 squad.
Faced with a decision to make, the 22-year-old informed the Black Stars technical team that he needs more time to decide on his international future.
The Rangers player released a statement on Instagram acknowledging Ghana’s call-up whilst confirming he had been communicating with Otto Addo.
“However, a lot has been said, but I am in direct contact with the manager concerned by my decision, and it is he who holds the real information about my choice.”
Sources close to the Black Stars have confirmed to 3Sports that Diomande was expected to arrive in camp on Thursday in Marrakech ahead of the Nigeria game on Friday.
It is also believed the Ivorian federation has reached out to the player to convince him as he is yet to be capped at the senior national team level.
Ghana play Nigeria on March 22 before facing Uganda four days later with both matches taking place in Morocco.
