Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo was on target in injury time as they secured a 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The youngster scored his first Premier League goal on Thursday night in the 97th minute to secure the victory at the Molineux.

The 18-year-old English-born Ghanaian showcased his talent just moments after Wolves’ Pedro Neto had equalised. Mainoo, picking up the ball on the left, skillfully nutmegged Max Kilman, cut inside, and expertly bent the ball into the bottom corner, marking his first-ever Premier League goal.

Marcus Rashford, making a triumphant return to the squad, opened the scoring within five minutes of the match. Rasmus Hojlund doubled the lead. Despite Wolves pulling level from being 2-0 down at halftime and 3-1 behind on 85 minutes, Scott McTominay’s header seemingly secured victory for the visitors.

However, the game took an unexpected turn as Wolves captain Kilman scored from close range. The goal set set the stage for Neto’s equalizer in the sixth of nine added minutes. The Molineux erupted in celebration, but the joy was short-lived as Mainoo had the final say in this extraordinary contest.

Erik ten Hag’s side reclaimed a spot in the top seven, breaking a four-game winless streak on the road. With eight points adrift from the Champions League places, Manchester United is back in contention, while Wolves remain 11th.

Kobbie Mainoo’s impactful return

The rising star has now scored in consecutive games for the Red Devils following his goal against Newport County. He scored the team’s second goal in the FA Cup fourth round as they triumphed with a 4-2 victory.

The youngster is fast becoming a fan favourite and an essential player for Erik Ten Hag. Having been sidelined due to injury after picking a knock off-season, Mainoo’s return has been fruitful. He has now featured in 12 games in all competitions and already has two goals to his name.
