Karela United emerged victorious in their Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko on Saturday, securing a 1-0 victory at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu.

Giyasu Ibrahim’s header in the 62nd minute, which came from a corner kick, proved to be the difference maker in the closely contested match.

This result marked Karela United’s second consecutive win against Kotoko, following their success in the FA Cup last month.

Despite their efforts to secure a win and move up the table, Kotoko struggled to gain momentum throughout the game.

On the other hand, Karela United played with high spirits and determination, ultimately earning themselves a vital three points.

The win moves Karela United up to 13th place in the standings, putting some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Kotoko risk dropping down the table, potentially falling from their current second position.

In another notable match played on Saturday, Accra Lions routed Berekum Chelsea 5-0 in Sogakope. Newly signed player Blessing Asuman scored twice, while Dominic Amponsah, Ali Mohammed, and second-half substitute Abdul Shakun Abubakar also found the back of the net for Accra Lions.
