Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has shared his perspective on the challenges faced by Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey as he works towards regaining his top form after a series of setbacks.

Partey, a key figure for both Arsenal and the Black Stars, has endured a season marred by injuries, limiting his appearances for the Gunners to fewer than 10 matches.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Gyan expressed sympathy for Partey, acknowledging the unfortunate circumstances that have hindered the midfielder’s progress this season.

“It’s regrettable that we’re without a player of Thomas Partey’s calibre,” remarked Gyan. “He possesses extraordinary talent, but injuries have hindered him this year. It’s not his fault.”

Partey’s absence was particularly felt during the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Ghana missed his presence on the field.

He delivered a brief cameo after coming on in the second half for Arsenal in their clash with Manchester City over the weekend and show signs of how pivotal he could be for arsenal provided he manages to stay fit.

Gyan emphasised that even upon Partey’s return, it will take time for him to reach his peak performance level. He cautioned against unfair criticism of the midfielder as he navigates his recovery journey.

“Even upon his return, it will take time for him to reach his peak performance,” Gyan explained. “Criticizing a player returning from injury is sometimes unfair.”

With the Premier League season still ongoing and Arsenal vying for silverware, Gyan believes this presents an opportunity for Partey to showcase his capabilities and remind fans and coach Mikel Arteta of his value to the team.
