Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged Gareth Southgate to consider including Kobbie Mainoo in the next England squad.
Wright praised Mainoo’s impressive performances in the English Premier League, highlighting the youngster’s maturity in challenging situations.
The former England striker emphasised that Mainoo’s displays have been exceptional and unmatched by an England player in a long time.
“Kobbie Mainoo has to be in the next England squad. Such maturity in chaotic conditions that we’ve not seen from an England player in a long time. Impressed every time I watch him,” Ian Wright wrote on X.

Mainoo picked up an injury in pre-season which sidelined him for a long period. However, he bounced back positively with stellar performances.
He has proven his importance to the team, contributing not only defensively but also scoring a crucial goal that secured three points against Wolves.
While Mainoo has represented England in various U20 national teams, he remains eligible to play for Ghana adding an intriguing dimension to his international career.
As calls for Mainoo’s inclusion in the England squad grow louder officials of Ghana are also believed to be on stand to explore the opportunity to land the 18-year-old.
