Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he can’t recall a time when he played football “without pain”.

The 27-year-old underwent knee surgery after suffering an injury that sidelined him from Brazil’s World Cup campaign in December 2022, causing him to miss 99 days of action.

Unfortunately, Jesus has since endured three additional knee injuries in just over a year.

“Sometimes I feel it [my knee],” Jesus admitted. “I don’t remember the last time I played football without pain. I try to keep strong in mind.”

Despite his struggles, Jesus has managed to make 15 Premier League starts for Arsenal this season and has scored four goals.

However, rumours have been circulating that Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta’s management, are seeking another striker, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney being mentioned among potential targets.

Regarding the potential arrival of competition in the summer, Jesus commented, “They already know if they want one or not. This might be a question for them. My job is to train hard and improve what I have to improve. Speculation will always be there.”

Jesus may be in contention to play when Arsenal face Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.
