Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is set to miss two to three weeks due to a muscle injury, according to manager Erik ten Hag. ‘

The 21-year-old Danish international has been in impressive form, scoring seven goals in his past six Premier League games, including a brace in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Luton Town.

Hojlund will miss the home league game against Fulham on Saturday and the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

He will also be unavailable for the derby against Manchester City and the home game against Everton over the next fortnight.

Ten Hag described the injury as “a small injury, two or three weeks” and stated that it was caused by a risk in high-intensity training.

Hojlund’s absence is a blow given Anthony Martial, United’s only other recognised striker, is sidelined following groin surgery.

Scott McTominay, United’s second-highest goalscorer this season with eight goals, may be called upon to fill the striking role.

However, United’s squad depth has been stretched thin by a series of injuries, with left-back Luke Shaw ruled out for several months with a leg injury and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, and Tyrell Malacia also sidelined.

Despite these challenges, ten Hag remains optimistic about his team’s ability to cope with the injuries.

United’s win over Luton saw them move up to sixth place in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
