Hearts of Oak endured another setback in the Ghana Premier League as they succumbed to a defeat against Bibiani Goldstars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening, marking their second consecutive loss.

Following their previous defeat against league leaders FC Samartex, Hearts of Oak aimed to rebound, but Goldstars proved to be a formidable opponent.

Despite having a numerical advantage, Hearts of Oak struggled to break down Goldstars’ defence.

In the 79th minute, Mawuli Wayo capitalised on a goalkeeper error, seizing the opportunity to score the decisive goal and secure all three points for the visitors.

Hearts of Oak fought hard throughout the game, but their wastefulness in front of goal ultimately cost them. Goldstars displayed resilience and successfully contained the pressure exerted by the Phobians, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the away side.

With this result, Goldstars leveled with Hearts of Oak on 32 points, with the Phobians narrowly edging ahead in 10th place while Goldstars occupy the 11th position.

Coach Aboubakar Ouattara, who began his tenure with the team on a positive note in the second round of the competition, will now strategise and aim to bounce back in their next game against defending champions Medeama SC.

In other matches, Aduana Stars secured a 3-1 victory at home against Real Tamale United, while FC Samartex reclaimed the top spot in the table with a narrow win over Medeama SC.

Elsewhere, Nsoatreman SC held Berekum Chelsea to a 0-0 stalemate, and Karela United clinched a 1-0 win over Hearts of Lions.

Hearts of Oak will look to regroup and rediscover their form as they continue their campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
