Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu Issahaku on Tuesday night became the first Ghanaian player in history to score a hat-trick in the EFL Championship.

The winger’s brilliant trio of goals took the headlines in Leicester City’s mauling of Southampton.

Issahaku’s hat-trick, which was his first ever in his professional career inspired Leicester City to a 5-0 demolition of Southampton at the King Power Stadium and pushing the Foxes closer towards promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.

Issahaku has hit top gear since his loan move from his parent club Sporting Lisbon to the 2016 Premier League champions.

The Black Stars winger now has 6 goals and 12 assists this season in the Championship and making himself one of the first names on the team sheet.

The 20-year-old has emerged as a shining star on the right flank for Leicester City, consistently providing vital energy for the team. After expertly curling one into the net in the first half, he swiftly followed up with two more goals, securing a hat-trick and leaving the match with the match ball in hand.

At full time, the Ghanaian celebrated with fans on what’s becoming his trademark end of game celebration.

With the likes of Christian Astu and Albert Adomah of Newcastle and Aston Villa respectively plying their trade in the Championship, it has become home to most Ghanaian players. However it is the former Dreams FC man has etched his name into Championship history.
