Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi has reached a significant milestone in his career, making his 150th appearance for St. Gallen in the Swiss league on Monday.

In St. Gallen’s recent Swiss Super League match against Luzern, which ended in a 1-1 draw at home, Ati Zigi showcased his prowess by saving a penalty kick.

St. Gallen took the lead with a goal from Albert Vallci in the 42nd minute, maintaining it until injury time. However, an equalizer from Lars Villiger in injury time resulted in both teams sharing the points.

Up until injury time, when Lars Villiger scored the equaliser to give his team a vital away point, the home team was winning handily.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper has been a mainstay in the Swiss top division this season, making 28 appearances. Since his arrival at St. Gallen in January 2020, Ati-Zigi has established himself as a key player for the team.

With his current contract expiring in the summer of 2025, St. Gallen aims to retain Ati Zigi as a valuable asset for the club, given his significant contributions since joining.

In total, Ati Zigi has accumulated 155 appearances across all competitions for St. Gallen, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the team.

His consistent performances in the Swiss League have also earned him caps for the Ghana national team, notably serving as the number one goalkeeper for the Black Stars during the 2022 World Cup.
