Dreams FC will face Tunisian giants Club Africain, former Nigerian champions Rivers United, and fellow debutants Academica do Lobito of Angola in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

This was revealed on Friday in Johannesburg where the draw took place, with the Ghanaian club expecting difficult games in their first appearance at this stage of the competition.

The Ghanaian FA champions have exceeded their expectations in reaching the “money zone” on their debut on the continental stage, and they are looking at going a step further but qualifying from their group, but they have to be at their absolutely best judging by the opponents assigned to them.

Club Africain are serial campaigners and were crowned African champions in 1991, while in Tunisia, they have been crowned league champions 13 times. Rivers United won the Nigerian league for the first time in 2022, and even reached the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final last season. Academica do Lobito, they are also enjoying their debut campaign just like Dreams FC.

Dreams, who had initially wanted to withdraw from participating, beat Guinean side Milo FC de Kankan in the first qualifying round before eliminating Sierra Leone’s Kallon to secure a historic group stage qualification. The draw also revealed three other groups. See the full draw below.
