Medeama have been drawn into a challenging group that includes reigning champions and record holders Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League debut.

The Ghanaian champions will not only compete against the Egyptian giants but also face Algerian champions CR Belouizdad and Tanzanian champions Yanga FC.

Medeama showcased their potential by overcoming Guinean giants Horoya AC in the last qualifying round. However, to progress from this challenging group, they will need to elevate their game significantly, as their opponents have a rich history. Notably, Al Ahly boasts a remarkable 11-time championship record.

CR Belouizdad may not have had substantial continental success, but they have dominated their local league with 10 league titles, surpassing Medeama’s achievements in Ghana. Yanga FC, on the other hand, has a history of regular participation in the Champions League and reached the CAF Confederation Cup final in the previous season.

Medeama have hinted at bringing in new players in a bid to bolster their squad and enhance their chances of a successful campaign in the group stage. Additionally, there are indications that the new stadium being constructed in Tarkwa will be ready to host games when the group stage commences in November.

Medeama face a formidable challenge as they embark on their CAF Champions League journey, and their ability to adapt and perform at a high level will be crucial in their quest to make a mark in this competition.
