Dec 7 polls: Parties explain sports policies on 3Sports Election Debate

Four political parties showed up at the Mac Dan La Town Park on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 for the 3Sports Elections Debate.

The  New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC) were given the platform to explain their policies and delve deep into the various sports promises in their manifestos for the 2020 elections.

TV3’s Thierry Nyann and Ace Sports Broadcaster Eva Okyere were the moderators on the night.

The debate which was first of it’s kind was divided into four rounds.

Round one was where the party representatives walked the public through their policies in sports, round two was how they intend to raise the sports development fund, how to make Winneba Sports Complex functionable was during the third round and the fourth round was how they all intend to project female sports if given the mandate to rule the country in 2020.

The audience were also given the opportunity to ask representatives questions about sports.

Every representative was given four minutes to answer each question and had the chance to rebut a maximum of three times.

Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports and the Spokesperson of the NPP on Sports, Alex Agyekum represented the governing party whereas Deputy Director of International Relations and NDC Spokesperson on Sports, Fred Agbenyo represented the main opposition party.

Bernard Mornah and Nana Afari Gyamfi represented PNC and PPP respectively.

The night saw jama performances from the National Die Hard Supporters Group.
