After conceding against Sudan, David Abagna has revealed that he urged his teammates to fight back for a vital win on Thursday.

Ghana needed to win against Sudan to stand a chance of advancing to the next round of the African Nations Championship after losing to Madagascar in their first game.

But, to their surprise, the Sudanese took the lead in the 31st minute, adding to Ghana’s troubles.

The Real Tamale United midfielder, who is also the Black Galaxies’ deputy captain, claimed he charged his teammates not to panic and fight to secure victory.

“When we conceded the goal, I told myself that we can’t go down and I also spoke to my teammates. We had to psych each other up. We had to push because it was a make-or-break situation” said the 24-year-old midfielder,” he said.

Ghana responded positively and levelled the score through Konadu Yiadom before half-time.

Then skipper Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored from the penalty spot to put Ghana ahead but got red-carded in the 97th minute.

Suraj Seidu however came through with Ghana’s third and final goal to secure all three points for Ghana.

David Abagna who was instrumental in the win was awarded the man of the match award for his sterling performance on the night.
