Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has already touched down in Kumasi ahead of his unveiling as announced by the Ghana Football Association.

The new coach who is tasked to lead the team to rebound from their poor World Cup showing in Qatar will manage his first game at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday as they take on Angola in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

The 64-year-old took advantage of his presence in the capital of the Ashanti region to acquaint himself more with their culture by attending the festival at the Manhia Palace and the folks gave him an incredible reception.

Upon his arrival, it seemed as though his presence was already expected as some fans who donned their traditional costume followed him while showing appreciation to the former Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion coach for accepting to lead the Black Stars.

He was accompanied by George Boateng, his assistant as well as some top officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)

Having replaced Otto Addo who stepped down in December after failing to lead Ghana beyond the group phase of the 2022 World Cup, Chris Hughton is the third man to lead the Black Stars within a year.

Prior to his appointment he was the technical advisor of the team and will now have full control of the playing body as coach.

His contract details and philosophy for the team is expected to be known on Monday when he is unveiled at the SG Mall in Kumasi at 10 am.
