Ajax have confirmed that Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus missed Tuesday’s training session due to a minor injury. The talented footballer stayed indoors as a precautionary measure, according to the club.

The news comes amid reports linking Kudus with a potential move to Chelsea. The London club are reportedly keen on signing the 22-year-old attacking midfielder during this summer’s transfer window and are said to be close to agreeing on personal terms with the player.

Chelsea’s interest in Kudus has sparked rumours, with speculation suggesting that the potential transfer could cost the club around £40 million. Despite the transfer talk, Kudus remains focused on his future and has expressed his desire to leave Ajax after turning down a contract extension offer in April.

Kudus, who has two years remaining on his current Ajax contract, was one of the club’s best players last season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 42 appearances. The Right to Dream Academy product also shone at the 2022 World Cup, guiding Ghana to their lone victory in Qatar, a 3-2 victory over South Korea.

Kudus scored a brace in a pre-season friendly for Ajax last week, indicating that the upcoming season will be similar to or even better than the previous one.
