C.K Akonnor names Black Stars squad: 6 players earn first call-up

Pyramids FC player, John Antwi, has earned his second Black Stars call up weeks after becoming the first foreign player to score 100 goals in the Egyptian league.

Ghana Black Stars coach, C.K Akonnor, today, named him and 22 others to play in the Mali friendly scheduled for October in Turkey.

The game will be played in preparation towards the AFCON qualifier against Sudan.

Some big names have been dropped as well. Mubarak Wakaso, Jonathan Mensah, John Boye, Christian Atsu, Caleb Ekuban, Nicholas Opoku and Kwabena Owusu are all missing out in the friendly.

There are 6 new names on the list: Alexander Djiku who plays for Strasbourg, Yakubu Mohammed of Azam FC in Tanzania, Benson Anang of MSK Zilina in Slovakia, Emmanuel Lomoteyof Amiens in France and youngster Kamal Deen who plays for Danish side Nordsjaelland.

After 5 years of absence, Bernard Mensah is back on the list.
