Black Maidens to play hosts Uruguay in FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup opener

The Black Maidens qualified to the tournament conceding only one goal[/caption] The national Under-17 women’s team has been drawn in Group A of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Ghana’s Black Maidens will play in the group alongside hosts Uruguay, New Zealand and Finland. Ghana will play the hosts in the opening game on Tuesday, November 13 before taking on Finland in their second game and New Zealand in their final group game. This was revealed after the draw was held at the FIFA headquarters on Wednesday. It was held without the representatives from the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Federation (CONCACAF) as nations are not done with the qualifiers. Ghana’s Black Maidens qualified without conceding a goal in the final qualifier after beating Djibouti 19-0 on aggregate. The Maidens’ participation in the tournament will be their sixth in a row. Cameroon and South Africa are the other African representatives and were drawn in Group C and Group B respectively. The tournament is scheduled to begin from November 13 to December 1. Three cities – Montevideo, Maldonado and Colonia del Sacramento – will host the tournament. Below are the groups: Group A
