Andre Onana has announced his retirement from international football after he was sacked from the Cameroon camp during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 26-year-old Inter Milan goalkeeper in a statement shared on social media revealed that “…my story with the Cameroonian national team has come to an end.”

Onana only appeared once for his country at the World Cup before being sent home due to a feud with coach Rigobert Song with multiple sources reporting that indifferences between the preference of playing style between the two caused the friction.
He played the entire 90 minutes for his country in their 1-0 loss to Switzerland in their first World Cup match in Qatar, but Devis Epassy, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Abha, took his place in goal when the five-time African champions faced Serbia in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Onana acknowledged his ejection from the squad in a social media statement a day after leaving camp, citing how he was forced against his wish when he willingly made himself available for Cameroon.
Cameroon were eliminated in the group stage despite stunning Brazil in their final group game.
The Inter Milan goalkeeper has played 34 matches for Cameroon, keeping 14 clean sheets.
