Adidome Unity Stars were crowned champions of the Mafi Youth Annual Football Unity Gala after a 2-1 win over Mafi Dove Galaxy.
The four-team tournament took place at Adidome in the Volta Region. The final, Adidome Unity Stars, Mafi Dove Galaxy, Bakpa FC, and Mafi Kumase Heroes battled for supremacy in the Mafi Youth Annual Football Unity Gala during Easter.
The tournament which was supported by politician and entrepreneur Ian Gavivina Okudzeto saw Adidome Unity Stars dominate from beginning to end.
As a result, Unity Stars received a cash sum and jerseys for winning the competition.
Bakpa FC defeated Mafi Kumasi Heroes 1-0 to finish third as Dove Galaxy ended up as runners-up.
Okudzeto believes this year’s edition was an improvement on the maiden edition last year.
“This year’s edition has been thrilling. Last year if you look at the support we received from the people of Adidome, Mafi and the surrounding villages, we realised we have to take this competition to another level.
“Over here there are a lot of good talents but the issue is they don’t have someone who would give them that exposure. This tournament seeks to become a vehicle to help promote talents in this area.”
The Mafi Youth Annual Football Unity Gala is expected to continue growing with the next edition slated for April 2023.
