The ‘Dagomba Girl’ hit maker said his nomination is heart-warming: one that reposes confidence in him and signals a progressive move from being a regional star to a national sensation. Having won the Best New Act last year in the 3 Music Awards, the Tamale super star and leader of the 69 Fans Army is confident that his fans will rally behind him to pick a VGMA in his debut appearance. He’s however not too convinced that his seeming unpopularity among the other nominees in the Reggae/Dancehall category will give him any favour in the eyes of the board and academy. He observed his music career is on acceleration. “I was big in my house, it came to a time I was big in my hood, it came too at a time I was big in my community, now, I’m big in Ghana,” he told Johnnie Hughes Friday on TV3’s New Day. Maccasio hopes to be big in African in the next few years, noting, “the world is now watching Africa”. He also disclosed he recently sealed an ambassadorial deal with Giant Malt, something he believes gives credence to his hard work. Maccasio’s ‘Dagomba Girl’ will go head-to-head against Stonebwoy’s ‘Top Skanka’, Samini’s ‘Obaa’ and Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’. Watch his interview: By P.D Wedam|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
