Show the world what we have – Afeku to Ghanaians ahead of AFRIMA

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Catherine Afeku has charged musicians and Ghanaians in general to be welcoming to patrons who will throng the country for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). Ghana is privileged to host this year’s event, which is a celebration of the continent’s music and its artistes. Speaking at an event in Accra on Monday to officially open this year’s ceremony, Catherine Afeku said Ghana is ready and well prepared to host this year’s Awards, while calling on Ghanaians to be welcoming towards patrons of the ceremony. “Let us all be ambassadors of our nation because we are putting Ghana on the red carpet. We are putting Ghana on the map, and we are going to showcase the Pan-African credentials of our nation through music and culture. “Let us show the rest of Africa that Ghana is ready, and we are going to host it. This year, next year, and 2020. Let us rock and let the world know that it is not all about poverty, disease and bad news. Africa is ready to host the rest of the world through our music,” the Minister noted. The Minister also called on car rental services, managers of hotels and other service providers to put their best foot forward in providing the best of services to visitors who will come into the country for the Awards. She further stated that this year’s will see the splendour of Africa, united through music, leaving an unforgettable experience in the minds of many. The All Africa Music Awards comes with series of activities, which kick off on Wednesday, November 21 with a Welcome Soiree at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. This will be followed by an Africa Music Business Seminar on Thursday, November 22. It is aimed at providing a platform for musicians and stakeholders to get acquainted with varied means through which they can monetize their act. On Thursday night, there will be a free music concert at the Black Star Square in Accra. The concert will see the likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Davido and other artistes across Africa performing on one stage. Artistes from across Africa will on Friday, November 23 wll tour some tourist sites in the country, as well as visit some schools in Accra to mentor and interact with students. The main Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre. Over the past five years, AFRIMA has provided a platform for African musicians to be celebrated for their work, and Ghana is fortunate to host its fifth edition this year.
