DJ Azonto, a Ghanaian Amapiano musician, popularly known for his hit single, ‘Fa Ne Fom, has addressed the controversy surrounding his choice of clothing, acknowledging that it may not be widely accepted but it is his livelihood.

DJ Azonto who switched from Disc Jockeying to main stage performances gained widespread attention with his hit single “Fa no Fom,” but it was his decision to dress in female fashion that has sparked a heated debate in public discourse.

Despite facing backlash for his fashion choices, DJ Azonto revealed in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz that he has no plans to change his style, as it is his source of income.

“As an adult who is a husband and father of three kids, I know the merits and demerits of what I am doing. I can distinguish what is bad from good, so there is no cause for alarm,” he expressed.

DJ Azonto acknowledged that his family, including his wife and mother, are not supportive of his fashion choices.

According to the performer, his mother has requested that he stop wearing female clothing and insist on him refraining from using handbags and wearing heels.

“On Mother’s Day, for instance, I went to my home town to see my mother and she said the only thing she would want me to do for her is to stop wearing female clothing. She also added that even if I don’t want to stop, I should stop using handbags and wearing heels. “I responded that if she wants to enjoy life by being well catered for, then I have to keep working and this is all part of it,” he disclosed.

He expressed that his family may not be happy with his choices, but they understand the importance of his work and the income it generates.

“I used to wear a brassiere, but I stopped. The truth is that my entire family, including my wife, are not happy with the things I wear, but they want money, and this brings money,” DJ Azonto candidly shared.

DJ Azonto was nominated for Best New Artiste at the VGMA but sadly lost out to Lasmid at the recently-held event with his outfit becoming a topical issue during the night instead of his music.
