The Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Eldah Naa Abiana Dickson popularly known by her stage name as Abiana, has urged music producers, event organizers, and media personalities to do better in promoting Ghanaian female musicians.

The Soul-life, Hi-life, and Neo Soul musician was on phone with Nana Kwame Gyan on Onua Showbiz last Saturday, March 9, 2024, where she made this statement.

“She is rewriting her history” was her comment on Becca’s return to music after taking some time off to focus on her marriage and new born baby. She considers this act as an inspiration to all existing and upcoming female artistes who want to build a home alongside their music career.

Abiana is of the view that males have dominated the music industry because females do not find it attractive since the media hails and prefers to promote the songs of male musicians as compared to those of the females.

This attitude of the media, especially radio stations, “deters” some of the female musicians from “attacking their dreams or pursuing the music career”, she added.

Eldah Naa Abiana Dickson pleads with managers of radio stations and all other media to allocate 50% slots each to both male and female musicians on their playlists. She deems this as one major way of promoting female musicians in Ghana.

As a passionate singer and songwriter, Abiana was adjudged the Best Female Vocal Performance award during the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
