“They are also pleading with the court to order Mr Drew to pay all the money they spent to organise the event, which amounts to GHC36,511. The organisers further claim that Mr Drew’s failure to show up for the event severely tarnished their image, and for that, they are demanding GHC200,000 as damages from Mr Drew,” the events centre shared on its official Facebook handle.

In addition, the plaintiff alleged that through its investigations it discovered a trend where several other event organisers have had similar encounters with Mr Drew.

The musician is yet to respond to the suit and the issues raised in the writ.

On April 5, Jamrock issued a statement announcing the cancellation of a planned Easter event because the billed artiste, Mr Drew did not show up for the concert.

The statement noted that all was set for the event only for the artiste to pull out at the eleventh hour when the concert was about to begin.

“Jamrok wishes to inform the general public that all was set for the event to take place but the artiste, Mr Drew, pulled out of the event when he was to mount the stage without any reason or explanation to the organisers.

“At around 12:30 am [on the day of the event], the organisers were calling the artiste to come and perform but there was no response from his team, hence the organisers drove to the hotel and found they were fast asleep.

“After sometime, Mr. Drew and his team finally came out of the hotel and sat in their car and drove off,” portions of the statement read.

Jamrok said it had already paid the artiste 50% of his performance fee and had scheduled with the artiste to pay the remaining amount after his performance.
