The maiden Ghana Cocoa Awards, slated for Friday, November 22, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, is set to hold with Johnnie Hughes as host. The versatile broadcaster has become the toast of high-brow event organizers with the most recent being the opening ceremony of the Orbis Flying Eye – the world’s first and only accredited teaching hospital on a plane. The Ghana Cocoa Awards is an effort to reward and institutionalize an annual celebration of stakeholders in the cocoa industry to national development, 140 years since Tetteh Quarshie brought cocoa from Fernando Po to Ghana. The Ghana Cocoa Awards is organized by VC Media led by Kojo Hayford. In attendance will be Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor. In all, 48 awards will be presented on the night. “The celebration is expected to manifest in product, project and programmes awareness, leading to increased patronage which is hoped to improve farmer earnings, engender growth and sustainability in cocoa production and processing and particularly local consumption promotion,” an excited Kojo Hayford told 3news.com. The event is aimed at rewarding hard work and committed loyalty and outstanding heroes along the cocoa value chain. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
