From sitting by the beach side and staring at the crushing waves to climbing the top of a mountain to shout at the empty space, many artistes have adapted to weird ways of connecting to their creative side in order to produce music for their fans.

Epixode has shared on 3Xtra what goes into his creative process when it comes to writing and producing a song.

In the words of the multiple hit maker, “First I sage. I sage a bit and then also I put myself in a space where I relic the inner me in the sense that if I’m supposed to do a reggae song, then I summon the old Reggae spirits.”

Knowing he was sounding a bit mystical, Epixode explained that his ritual has no dark attachments but only to put him in the right mood to record better songs.

“What I mean is I play very deep-rooted Reggae songs. If I want to do High Life, then it definitely has to be in that era.”

The 2021 VGMA Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year said aside the above ritual, he does not follow a strict pattern in his creative process hence his ability to be versatile.
